NOTES

– With his 7 extra points against Bellefonte, Spencer Herrington became Clearfield’s career kick-scoring leader.  For his career, Herrington has made 147 of 155 extra points and 4 of 4 field goals for a total of 159 points.  He surpassed the previous record of 156 set by Tyler Butler from 1997 to 2000.  Herrington also passed Butler in career extra points made and is one made field goal behind Kyle Kline for the known record in that category.  Kicking stats are complete from 1993 to the present, but additional research needs to be done for the years prior to 1993.

– Tyler Stratton set career highs in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns with 196 and 4, respectively.  His previous high in rushing yards was set in Week 3 versus Central (188 yards).  He scored 3 rushing touchdowns four different times in his career – two this season and two in 2012.  Stratton is now just 137 yards from becoming the 12th Bison to reach 2,000 career yards rushing.

– Christian Lezzer scored his 50th career rushing touchdown Friday night.  He ran for one as a freshman, 12 as a sophomore, 21 last season and has 16 so far in 2013.  Lezzer became the 4th player to surpass 5,000 career yards of total offense (rush yards plus pass yards) and is 115 passing yards from reaching 2,000 for his career.

– Through its first six games, the Clearfield offense has been one of the most prolific in school history.  While there is still a lot of football left to play, the Bison are on pace to set new per-game records in the following categories:

NOTES

– The Bison have won 44 of their past 49 games overall and 37 of their past 38 regular-season games.  They have won 18 consecutive regular season games dating back to a 40-33 loss to Philipsburg-Osceola in 2011.

– Clearfield and Bellefonte have met once in the postseason, a 27-10 Red Raider win in the 1999 PIAA playoffs.  The Bison defeated Bellefonte during the regular season, 41-20.

– The Bison first met the Red Raiders in 1948, a 20-6 Bellefonte win.  The only teams on Clearfield’s 2013 schedule that began playing the Bison earlier are Tyrone (first played in 1939) and Philipsburg-Osceola.  Clearfield first played P-O in 1956, but played Philipsburg High School from 1939-1955 and Osceola Mills High School from 1941-1955.

– In the 2002 Clearfield-Bellefonte game, Craig Gardner intercepted three passes and returned two of them for touchdowns.  A game recap from d9sports.com – written by former Bison Dean Altemus – can be seen at this link.

– Throughout the 50-game series between Clearfield and Bellefonte there have been numerous outstanding individual efforts, including the ones shown above by Bison in the past.  However, the Red Raiders have had their share of big games against Clearfield:

  • In 1981, Todd Naylor caught 14 passes for 229 yards and 2 TDs in a 20-20 tie.  Quarterback Dave Rockey went 20-32 with 324 yards passing and 3 TDs.
  • Bellefonte RB Jerry Shivery ran 36 times for 313 yards against Clearfield in a 28-7 Red Raider win in 1966.
